June in Vermont

I'm not sure how it's already September, but since I haven't posted about our trip to Vermont this past June, I must do that before moving on...
Kevin's cousin, Brian, was marrying his high school sweetheart, Betsy, and we flew up for the fun!
The wedding was up in Underhill Center near Mt. Mansfield and Smuggler's Notch and we made a short vacation out of it.

Our trip was also planned around Waf's, my favorite sandwich shop in Winooski (which isn't open on the weekends).  Our first full day up there we had a leisurely breakfast at Kevin's dad's, visited with Kevin's grandmother and had lunch at Waf's before driving up to Mt. Mansfield.  Mt. Mansfield is the highest peak in Vermont, so it's been a hike I've wanted to do for a long time.

We took the toll road up to the top and then hiked from the Nose to the Chin on the Long Trail.

The views were fabulous and it gave us some great exercise! (17,000 steps in one day!)

When we finished, we drove over to Smugglers' Notch to check in for the weekend.  They were having a crafts fair/festival on the lawn right outside our room, so we popped over to check that out and had some dinner before family arrived.  As soon as some of the cousins got there, we went with them for a second dinner and then called it a night because we had big plans in the morning.

Early morning day 2 we woke up and got ready for our Zip Lining Canopy Tour with ArborTrek.  The tour was 3 hours and included two repels along with 8 ziplines.  It was AMAZING!

Our only complaint is we were SUPER hungry when we were finished.  Otherwise, it was the perfect morning.  We stopped for a quick lunch at Smuggs before indulging in an hour massage.  What's vacation if you can't relax?  It was perfect!

Next was the rehearsal in Underhill Center.  We got pretty and drove over to the church.

After the rehearsal, we all enjoyed dinner at Brewster River Pub.  The food was fabulous and it was fun meeting some of Brian and Betsy's friends!

Back at Smugg's we joined everyone around the campfire and roasted s'mores.  Yumm!

The next day was the wedding!  We met Kevin's family for breakfast and then took off to see some of the covered bridges.  In all of my years visiting Vermont, I've never seen a real covered bridge.

Then we had to scamper back to get ready for the wedding!

The ceremony was beautiful and as soon as the bride and groom came back down the aisle, it was time to party!  We stopped back by our room at Smugg's for a quick snack before headed off to The Barn at Boyden Farm.

The evening was fantastic!  Great food, awesome dancing and the most fantastic maple creemees I've ever had!  The sunset over the farm was perfect!

The next morning, it was sadly goodbye.  We packed up and joined the family at a farewell breakfast to say goodbye to the bride and groom before driving back to Winooski.  We spent the afternoon with the LaVigne's and hung out with family at Memere's house before having dinner with Kevin's dad and grandpa on Father's Day Sunday!

Then it was time for an early bedtime since we had to be up around 4am for a flight home!  It was an awesome weekend!  It's always great to see family and it's even better when we can plan a little adventure into a trip away!
